Enough.
Have you ever felt like you're not enough?
Not smart enough?
Not articulate enough?
Not pretty enough?
Not established enough?
Not WORTHY enough?
Not. Enough?
Enough has been plaguing me for most of my life. But who is enough and why do I think I need to be her?
I’ve learned that I cared more about enough than about who I truly am. God didn’t create me to be anything other than who I am. He created me as a whole being— but something along the way started to eat at my wholeness. I walked around as a fragmented being instead of as the whole being He created. See, enough will do that to you. She will cause you to trade pieces of yourself to be more like her. She will whisper in your ear that you are not like her because you don’t look, sound, or behave the way she does. Comparison is her weapon—she uses it to disarm you. She knows that if you knew your true identity, she wouldn’t stand a chance. So she causes you to focus on others instead of focusing on God. We were made in the image of God, therefore, in order for us to know ourselves we need to first know God.
But enough tells us that God is not sufficient. She tells us that everything we need is on this earth. She tells us that our worth is predicated on the validation of others. She tells us that intelligence will open the doors to the life we desire. She tells us that being more attractive than everyone else will give us an advantage. She tells us that the more we attain, the better we will be.
What she fails to mention is that nothing is worth having if it is not from God. Enough neglects to mention that God is the sufficient one; He is El Shaddai, the supplier of everything we need. He is the only one that can open and close doors. Enough tricks us into believing that we are in control of our own destinies. She perverts the truth by telling us that we need more in order to be more. Enough causes jealousy to take root in our hearts. She causes us to look at someone we once loved with disdain because they have what we think would make us enough. But again— I ask, who is enough and why do we want to be her?
Enough makes you feel alone. Enough wants you to believe that all you have is yourself. She does this intentionally because she knows that if you knew that the creator—Elohim, was on your side, she wouldn’t be able to come against you. So she shapeshifts. The more you think you’re becoming like her, the more she directs your gaze to something else you need. She keeps raising the bar, changing the definition of what it means to be her. Enough. Enough is clever. She infiltrated her way into the minds of the majority of society. She loves that people are obsessed with her. She has partnered with the love of money, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life to gain more power. Enough feeds off of the souls of people by controlling their emotions and ambitions.
Honestly, I’ve had enough of ENOUGH!
I refuse to be a slave to her any longer. As I turn my focus to God, I realize that I’ve been created to be exactly who He needs me to be. I don’t need to be enough because enough won’t help me to fulfill my purpose on this earth. God is who gives me the strength and grace to do the things that He’s calling me to do. He is the one who breathed his spirit into me. I am more than enough! I have the living God’s spirit within me. The magnitude of that no longer escapes me. The God who created the heavens and the earth is the same God who created me, but yet I was chasing after someone as feeble as enough. My power is not predicated on enough, it is predicated on the fact that I am a child of God. The living God. The Lion of Judah. The bread of life. The Almighty. The Prince of Peace. Alpha and Omega. El Shaddai. Adonai. Jehovah. Yahweh.Elohim. He is on my side. I don’t need enough when I have Him.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re not enough, you’re right! You are more than enough. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You were made in the image of God. God is in your uniqueness. His glory is in the fullness of who you are.
With peace + love,
Myleka
